The tree is surrounded by 50 other smaller christmas trees, representing all 50 states and decorated by Americans around the country. Called the Pathway to Peace, it's a fun addition to the larger tree, and makes you feel like you are indeed in the nation's capital!
It was definitely a cold night, but if you live in the area, it is something you definitely should do :)
