I was invited to visit the MIRI DC showroom, to check out some popular signature pieces as well as new items from the latest Spring and Summer 2014 collection!
Mera Anwar is the genius behind the fashion house MIRI, launched in early 2010. While barely 4 years old, MIRI is quickly establishing itself as the brand to watch; and as their motto claims, see why the MIRI girl is "modern, edgy, downtown, and chic."
Working in Paris and then attending Parsons New School of Design in NY, Mera presented her first collection soon after graduating. While working on her own line, Mera was also a freelance designer for the ever-chic retail mogul, J.Crew.
Mera's design aesthetic revolves around contemporary silhouettes in luxurious textures; lace from Paris, silks from East Asia, and rich embroidery work from South Asia. The brand is at once global and cosmopolitan, seamlessly blending the two.
The latest collection takes inspiration from Russia; with matryoshka dolls, vivid colors in cobalt blue and hot fuchsia pink, elaborate details, and intricate patterns. It was a subtle nod to Russian decadence, but geared towards the modern woman.
There were too many gorgeous pieces to take pictures of, but below are a few of my favorite looks, plus a how-to on styling the beautiful fringe blue midi skirt 3 ways!
