The festival, Art on the Avenue, took place in Alexandria, VA, just a hop skip and jump away from DC. Art festivals are fun for a number of reasons. Number 1: FOOD. Yes, food. Funnel cakes, pizza, burgers, lemonade and everything in between, local restaurants set up tents giving those passing by a chance to sample their goods.
Number 2: Variety. There's so much to do at an art festival. From listening to live music, participating in games, and of course shopping, it's hard to get bored!
And Number 3: Art! Local artisans display their craft, from paintings and sculptures, to beauty products and home decor, and so much more. The best part, however, is seeing these people who are so clearly talented and passionate about what they do share their work for all to see. You can see the pride in their smiles and the gleaming of their eyes; it's nothing short of inspirational.
Support your local artisans, and have a great time (that's Number 4 ;)) !
